Ostrich Eggs

Ian just escaped into the big part of the house. After a few moments, I went to check on him. I found him in the front hall, hands on the decorative table which holds the African nic-nacs. He was peering at the ostrich egg in the center and saying, "ball ball". As soon as he saw me, he started to shake his head no, knowing he wasn't supposed to mess with it.

Vocabulary

So he can say "ball" and "mama" and "dada" now... And Mom claims he just now started calling her "nana." What else is he saying?

You used to do that too. One day Mom found you returning from the neighbor's yard (where you weren't allowed yet), shaking your head and telling yourself, "No, no, no, no."

He's getting there

He really has picked up on talking in the last month. He does indeed say "Nana" and he says "Pop Pop" for Robert. He still calls Ben "mama". And Granny and Grampa (the other grandparents) are harder to say, so it might be a while. His favorite words seem to be "ball" (he almost always has one in his hand) and "uh oh". He says "uh oh" if he drops something, throws his food, BEFORE he intentionally drops his cup, and when making cars roll off the coffee table. He says "nanana" for banana, woof woof, meow meow (actually it sounds more like a real cat than the word. He talks to the barn cats when he sees them and hugs them). He whinnys to the horses too. He says "bub bub" for bubbles, "back back" (for a duck saying quack quack), "mooo" for a cow, he tries to snort like a pig but it comes out just loud breathing through his nose, and he says "buck buck" for when he's stuck. He can sign: eat, milk, water, juice, more, finished, hurt, horse, please, help me, cookie, sleep, and thank you (with help).

oh,

and he can say "cheese", or at least something similar.
