Hurricane Katrina Damage

Empty Warehouse

Empty Warehouse

This warehouse was completely full before the hurricane. Not anymore. The storm surge cleaned it out. That chassis was outside, now it's inside and twisted around a bit. It had a 2 story concrete office built inside, it's gone too.

I've posted a new gallery of post-Katrina Gulfport photos here:

Roads full of debris.

Dirty Dell

Dirty Dell

A bit rusty and dirty. I don't think it'll boot up.

That's our cargo...

That's our cargo...

This was cargo in our East Pier warehouse. It was all washed Northwest, ending up here in a huge pile about 1 mile away. There were houses here too, but they're gone now.

We have to unload this barge.

We have to unload this barge.

There are two barges like this. The other evidently floated over some oaks, cutting off the tops, and settled a few hundred feet farther inland. We have to unload them before they're moved.

Destroyed.

A piece of the Grand Casino

A piece of the Grand Casino

Washed up onto Highway 90. The smell in this area was TERRIBLE due to shipping containers full of rotting seafood.

Twisted warehouse

Twisted beams and supports.

Some of our cargo...

Some of our cargo...

...Washed away. The piers alongside the warehouses have containers and cargo all around them, submerged.

You can see why there was so much water damage. It's right on the Gulf. Notice the buckled concrete. The port is out of commission for a while.

2nd Floor Office Door

2nd Floor Office Door

Our warehouse office was washed completely away, but we found the door.
